I am a Hungarian, London-based animation filmmaker, illustrator and multimedia artist. I have learnt the basics of animation and filmmaking at Illyés Academy of Arts in Budaörs and I am currently completing my final year on the Contemporary Media Practice course at the University of Westminster in London. Through a spiritual and philosophical approach –usually accompanied with absurd humour – my works take place in a surreal and poetic setting, being more atmosphere than character focused. My aim is to capture a surreal and odd sensation which usually reflects on my inexhaustible fascination about the link between the material and nonmaterial dimensions and the beauties of Nature. I mostly work with 2D analogue techniques, using hand drawn frame by frame process to create subtle abstract narratives with aquarelle, ink, colour pencil or charcoal.
The project I’m currently working on is called ‘Octopus in the room’ – an audiovisual multimedia piece which I’m developing as my BA diploma work. The concept revolves around the exploration of the sensation of fear in one’s life, its effects on the human body and the personal environment of people. Made with 6 female and non-binary people, a sequence of interviews give a broad and diverse view on their experience and relationship with fear, while touching on existential and spiritual questions. The project operates with a symbolic and associative portrayal of the recorded conversations, which are crafted together as a sequence of poems, creating an interesting mixture of fiction and documentary. The project examines the 'spatial awareness' of my generation, both in the physical and mental sense while aiming to capture the expression of one's very experience of fear, rather than what one is afraid of.
The final outcome, would be an exhibition in the first place, featuring 6 large scale paintings and one animated piece, projected in the exhibition space. Each painting reflects on and would be accompanied with an audio piece featuring a set of documentary poetry pieces. The animated projection would work as the ‘climax’ of the exhibition, reflecting on the summary of the featured artworks and the audio pieces. The project would also exist as an illustrated poetry book, including the exhibited artworks, the documentary poetry pieces as well as additional poems (written by me) in the topic. As the last element, the exhibited visual and audio material would provide the foundation of an animated short film which I aim to produce after I’ve graduated.
