Ioanna Economidou (b.1999, Nicosia, Cyprus) is a mixed media artist with a bachelor’s degree in fine art. Her academic background consists of studies on design as well as fine art in London and Cyprus. The phenomenology of light and its connection to space is one of the artist’s current points of exploration. Through an examination of the way light alters everyday environments, the artist attempts to observe its ephemeral nature. She explores these ideas through her process-led practice with a focus on digital and analog photography and mixed media installations.

Anemone is inspired by the sea, the sun and everything that exists in between. The technique I mostly used while exploring experimental animation was using paint and ink straight on 35mm film, creating different shapes and textures. This was a great opportunity for me to focus on materiality and discover the countless possibilities this medium has to offer.
