If you have already read the chapter on how risography works, then it is time to prepare your concrete plan. Below we list some practical information, but if you have any further questions, please contact us at one of our contacts.
Preparation of A3 print
The first phase of risographic printing is when the RISO machine draws and burns the graphics into the screen fabrics, these become the so-called "master foils". A separate master foil must be prepared for each color, and then the prints are made from these.
Even in the case of a print smaller than A3, set an A3-sized document, because this is how we use the master film sparingly. For example, if you want A4 prints, you can put two of them in the A3 size.
If possible, prepare the pages for printing digitally, as this way you can get the most accurate final result. Prepare your graphics for printing in grayscale mode, in jpg, tiff, psd or pdf format. The printing maximum is 600 dpi, the recommended minimum is 300 dpi. If it is a two- or multi-color print, then of course send the graphic design for all colors! Why gray mode? Because in the end, what matters is not what color the graphics are on your computer, but which RISO color you want to print your grayscale image with.
Is this still foggy? Ok, give us a call, we'll explain! If the graphic design contains effects used in software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator), the .pdf file should be "flattened" (that is, without layers and transparency). We would like to request that the name of the file consists of the title of the graphic and the color of the given layer, it should not contain accents, there should be an underline instead of a break, e.g.: risocuccom_red.tiff Please also attach a color version of the work as a reference so that we can see what you want to achieve color depth. You can find available colors here.
Both the paint and the master foils are made from natural materials. For printing, we use natural, uncoated, 70-300 gr, A3 papers with good absorbent capacity. You can preview our complete RISO color chart manual in our studio, which is printed and therefore corresponds to reality. Please be sure to read the useful information before ordering!
